Thierry Lavé has pursued his passion for photography since the age of 18. His artistic vision gradually evolved toward a more abstract and contemplative approach. His work explores the boundary between realism and abstraction, capturing fleeting emotions and ephemeral moments with a refined sense of composition, light, and silence.

Thierry Lavé’s photography is inspired by the sublime seascapes of Hiroshi Sugimoto, the meditative color fields of Mark Rothko, and the minimalist views of sea and sky under changing conditions of light and weather found in Gustave Courbet’s marine paintings. These references resonate in his recurring attention to form, color, and emotional atmosphere.

Thierry Lavé’s photographs highlight subtle contrasts — between presence and absence, movement and stillness, nature and self. Through a restrained visual language, he invites viewers to pause and reflect, offering a quiet space where the ordinary becomes poetic, and the moment expands into something timeless.

His work has been exhibited in Switzerland and France, including solo and group shows in Basel (2017), Hossegor (2022), Geneva (2025), Zürich (2025), Belfort (2025) and Hundsbach (2025). In 2021, a selection of his images was displayed in the Roche Tower in Basel for the company’s 125th anniversary. He has received multiple international distinctions, including first prize in the Fine Art Photography Awards (2023) and several first public choice awards in recent exhibitions.

Recognized for its quiet intensity and evocative style, Thierry Lavé’s photography has earned recognition in juried competitions such as the Chromatic Awards and Fine Art Photography Awards. Based in France and often inspired by landscapes and the human presence within them, Thierry Lavé continues to build a body of work that combines aesthetic precision with emotional depth
